Job description
Lead Systems Analyst Role - Alternatives Role Summary The Lead Systems Analyst will be responsible for documenting the current-state systems architecture and data landscape across the Alternatives domain, covering both Private Markets and Hedge Funds. The role will work across business, technology, and data teams to capture application architecture, business-process-supported data flows and integration points, and to produce clear documentation of how systems, processes, and data interact across the domain. The role will help translate current-state processes, systems, and data movements into structured outputs such as process flows, interface and application inventories, data mappings, and entity definitions that can be used to shape the Alternatives data model and support internal and external data sharing requirements. Where gaps, inefficiencies, or control weaknesses are identified, the role will also work with key stakeholders across business, technology, and data to assess options and propose practical improvements to the current approach. Responsibilities include:
- Document the current-state application and systems architecture across the Alternatives domain, including key platforms, interfaces, dependencies, data stores, and manual process touchpoints.
- Produce clear architectural artifacts for Private Markets and Hedge Funds, including system context diagrams, application interaction views, interface and application inventories, and capability-to-system mappings.
- Document the end-to-end data flows that support current-state business processes, including where data is sourced, transformed, enriched, reconciled, consumed, and reported.
- Work with key stakeholders to capture core operational processes, system usage, handoffs, control points, and pain points across the Alternatives landscape.
- Partner with the Data Architect to help develop a domain data model for Alternatives based on the documented architecture, process, and data-flow artifacts prepared by this role.
- Identify and document key business entities, data concepts, system ownership, data lineage considerations, and relationships that inform the domain data model.
- Prepare source-to-target mapping documents for any data shared with internal systems, enterprise platforms, regulators, clients, administrators, custodians, vendors, or other third parties.
- Define and document mapping logic, transformation rules, validations, reference data usage, control requirements, and field-level business meaning where data is exchanged between systems.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive inventory of inbound and outbound interfaces, including file transfers, APIs, reports, feeds, and manual data exchange points.
- Identify gaps, duplication, inconsistencies, undocumented dependencies, and data-quality risks across the current-state architecture and data flows.
- Analyze current-state architecture, process, and data-flow gaps and work with business, technology, and data stakeholders to define practical improvement options and recommended target-state approaches.
- Produce high-level future-state architecture views and option assessments that can be used to support prioritization, solution design, and delivery planning.
- Assess the impact of proposed changes across processes, systems, interfaces, data structures, and operational teams, and document dependencies, constraints, and transition considerations.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions with business SMEs, technology teams, architects, and data stakeholders to validate findings and agree outputs.
- Ensure that analysis outputs are sufficiently detailed and structured to support downstream solution design, engineering delivery, testing, governance, and operational transition activities.
Requirements
- Significant experience working as a Systems Analyst, Lead Systems Analyst, or Business Systems Analyst in a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong experience documenting current-state systems architecture, application landscapes, interfaces, and operational dependencies.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and document end-to-end data flows across business processes and multiple interconnected systems.
- Experience producing high-quality analysis artifacts such as process flows, system diagrams, interface inventories, data dictionaries, lineage views, and source-to-target mappings.
- Good understanding of data modeling concepts, including entities, attributes, relationships, normalization, and business glossary definition.
- Experience partnering with Data Architects, Solution Architects, technology, and business stakeholders to convert operational knowledge into structured analytical outputs.
- Strong understanding of integration patterns and enterprise data movement, including APIs, batch interfaces, flat-file transfers, reporting extracts, and manual upload/download processes.
- Experience documenting field-level mapping logic, transformation rules, validations, and reconciliation requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively across both business, data, and technology audiences.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, reusable artifacts.
- Working knowledge of SQL / Python and data analysis techniques to support validation of data mappings and investigation of data lineage is preferred.
- Experience in investment management, asset management, alternatives, fund administration, custody, or related financial services domains is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Private Markets and Hedge Funds business processes, data structures, and operating models would be a strong advantage.
