Job description
We’re hiring a Full-Stack Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the applications behind our newly acquired environmental testing services. You’ll help stand up and evolve the systems this business line runs on - sample tracking, results processing, regulatory and client reporting, and the portals our clients use to access their data - while working closely with lab operations, client services, and leadership to turn real operational needs into reliable, well-built software. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role: you’ll be involved from the initial idea through building the product, shipping it, and supporting it in production, and you’ll have real influence over how this new area of the business is built from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain full-stack web applications supporting our new environmental testing line - sample and chain-of-custody tracking, results processing, and client-facing reporting.
- Build and maintain APIs and integrations that connect lab instruments, internal systems, and customer portals.
- Help design data models and reporting formats that meet environmental testing and regulatory reporting needs.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code across the front end and back end.
- Design and manage relational databases and data models that support accurate, timely reporting.
- Collaborate directly with lab, operations, and leadership teams - including the team from our newly acquired environmental testing business - to understand workflows and translate them into practical software solutions.
- Take ownership of features end-to-end - from planning and development through deployment and ongoing support.
- Troubleshoot issues in production and continuously improve the reliability and performance of our systems.
- Help evolve our engineering practices, tooling, and technical decisions as the team grows.
Requirements
- Professional experience building full-stack web applications (front end and back end).
- Solid working knowledge of: TypeScript, React, Next.js, C#, ASP.NET, Windows Forms, Blazor, and MS SQL Server
- Comfort working across the stack - from UI to APIs to data models - and taking a feature from idea to production.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Clear communication skills, especially when working with non-technical teammates to understand their needs.
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience building software for lab, environmental, manufacturing, agriculture, or other operations-heavy environments.
- Familiarity with environmental testing, regulatory reporting, or electronic data deliverable (EDD) formats.
- Experience with data pipelines, reporting tools, or integrating with lab/scientific instruments.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization, monitoring).
