Lead Software Engineer - Data Engineering

Evaluate, prototype, and select technologies and systems architectures to meet government compliance, support growth initiatives and ongoing system evolution.

You will be accountable for delivering both technical and business outcomes, partnering across engineering, product teams, and domains to see how our existing platform capabilities can be leveraged to deliver more values to both internal and external customers.

Partner with engineering, operations and product management teams to evaluate cloud strategy with regard to highest performance, reliability, lowest costs and best strategic fit.

You will actively participate in the Humana wide architecture community to define, drive and champion architecture standards patterns and best practices. You will also advise local architects, product, SRE, engineering leads and quality engineers on the alignment of solution implementations to conform to evolving standards.

The Platform Innovation and Engineering team is seeking a passionate engineer with extensive experience building and driving complex platforms and systems. You enjoy working with a strong, cross-functional, and cross-geography team of engineers and you are passionate in working with our business and engineers to build best in class systems. You love experimenting with new and emerging technologies. You think positive, have the can-do attitude, and focus on ‘getting stuff done’ with quality., Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, with 10 years experience in software development.

Expertise in big data technologies and platforms, particularly Spark.

Experience with SQL, Java/Python, Data engineering, Azure (or other Cloud)

Exceptional analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills; management by numbers with demonstrable abilities in data-driven decision making.

Successful track record of architecting, designing, and implementing complex, loosely coupled, scalable, and secure software systems.

Rich experience in large-scale data processing, distributed system performance tuning, multi-thread programming, cloud-based systems.

Passionate, self-driven, and team player that can lead through influence and collaboration in a federated environment.

Experience designing/developing service (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) based systems used at an enterprise level.

Experience with all aspects of using the public cloud at scale within an a large enterprise including: translating on-prem deployment models to how applications would be deployed on the public cloud, cloud security patterns, multi-account / multi-region architectures, change management involved in migrating development teams to the public cloud etc.
