Job description

Provides strategic support, planning, coordinating and managing assignments, projects, and operational initiatives in the Office of Legal Services. This position ensures legal matters, compliance initiatives, policy development, contract workflows, and cross departmental projects are completed efficiently, on time, and in accordance with District policy and administrative regulations. This position serves as a liaison with other District divisions and departments to help improve the efficiency of processes and manage priorities in the Office of Legal Services. Essential Job Functions Professionalism

  • Maintains a commitment to the District mission; models District expectations through personal leadership and example; and actively supports the efforts of others to achieve District goals.
  • Promotes an environment of respect, cultural competency, and responsiveness to students, parents, staff, and stakeholders., + Plan, coordinate, and monitor legal department projects from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate with District leadership, Talent Management, Finance. Procurement, Risk Management, Special Education, Student Services, and campus administrators on legal initiatives.
  • Develops project plans and timelines, milestones, and status reports.
  • Serve as a liaison and schedule meetings with other District divisions and departments to address legal initiatives and projects
  • Coordinates the review and revision of board policy and administrative regulations
  • Development and improve legal department processes, standard operating procedures, and project management tools
  • Assist General Counsel with facilitation of meetings, documenting action items, and ensuring follow up on assigned tasks.
  • Ensure all projects, processes, and procedures align with District policy and administrative regulations. Personal Work Relationships

  • Performs all job-related duties as assigned and in accordance with Board rules, policies and regulations. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required., + Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.   • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse.
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Environment: Works in an office setting; frequently works prolonged or irregular hours; frequent District and statewide travel.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of local policies and regulations relating to public education.
  • Skill in written and oral communication including ability to interact with and influence all levels of central office and office staff.
  • Skill in working with initiatives that require collaboration with other divisions and departments within the District.
  • Skill in active listening; giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points communicated, and asking questions as appropriate.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as law, policy, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the District.
  • Ability to use software to create spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work., + Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Education, Business, Government Policy, Economics, Human Resources, or related field. Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Certification/License: None
  • Experience: o 3 years’ experience in public school system required; o Experience working in a public school system preferred.
