Job description

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems & Automation Specialist to provide technical support and consulting services for the technology systems used throughout our bakery operations. This is a hybrid independent contractor engagement combining remote services with regular on-site work at our Southlake location.

The contractor will generally be expected to provide on-site services one to two days per week for system maintenance, troubleshooting, project implementation, and coordination with management and external vendors. Specific on-site days will be coordinated based on current operational and project needs.

Scope of Services

  • Support and maintain the company’s core technology environment, including POS, computers and mobile devices, networks, customer messaging systems, cybersecurity applications, security cameras, company websites, online ordering systems, and third-party business applications.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, integration, connectivity, and system-performance issues.
  • Coordinate complex support cases with software providers, equipment technicians, developers, and other third-party vendors through resolution.
  • Support and improve the company’s in-house Operations Support System (OSS), which monitors equipment performance, temperature conditions, operating status, alerts, and maintenance needs.
  • Troubleshoot sensors, gateways, data transmission, connectivity, notifications, dashboards, and equipment-monitoring integrations.
  • Support video surveillance and video analytics solutions used for security, safety, operational analysis, and management reporting.
  • Review cybersecurity notifications and recommend appropriate measures to protect company systems, administrative accounts, operational data, and customer information.
  • Develop and improve internal tools, dashboards, reports, system integrations, and automated workflows.
  • Use POS, OSS, video analytics, and other operational data to produce management reports and practical business insights.
  • Research and implement appropriate AI, analytics, workflow automation, and low-code/no-code solutions.
  • Evaluate proposed software, integrations, and system changes based on operational value, security, compatibility, and cost.
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation and recommend preventive or long-term solutions for recurring system issues.
  • Respond to critical incidents in accordance with response expectations established in the applicable service agreement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Educational or professional focus on business systems, process optimization, automation, data analytics, or cybersecurity.
  • Experience with IT support, systems administration, business applications, system integrations, or operational technology.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and vendor-coordination skills.
  • Ability to independently investigate technical issues, develop solutions, and coordinate external specialists when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to management and non-technical users.
  • Experience with video analytics, IoT sensors, equipment monitoring, or building-management systems is preferred.
