Job description

Installs, configures, maintains, and supports network components and infrastructure according to IS&T standards and industry best practices. Part of a team that is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a scalable, highly available network architecture that meet business objectives and SLAs., * Establishes networking environment by installing, configuring, and maintaining network equipment and systems in according with defined standards or best practices.

  • Maximizes network performance and availability by monitoring resource utilization, trending, and capacity.
  • Collaborates with network and domain architects on network optimization.
  • Troubleshoots network problems and outages; schedules and implements patches, upgrades, hot fixes, and security configurations.
  • Secures network system by enforcing policies, defining, and monitoring access.
  • Serves as liaison with user departments and vendors to communicate, evaluate, and implement new network technologies and systems.
  • Manages and maintains network documentation, equipment inventories, and MDF/IDF standards.
  • Participates in daily and out-of-hours on-call support for network operating needs.
  • Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architect(s) and senior network engineer(s) on network optimization.
  • Reports/monitors network operational status, performance availability, resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Configures and installs various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, WLAN, etc.)
  • Provides Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Mentors/trains junior level engineer(s).

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience, * CCNA or higher, * High school diploma or equivalent, * Solid understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Understanding of technical environments in order to create and document processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated well-developed organizational, written communication, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks without direct supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative, executive staff, and clinical systems users
