Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Data Center and Rack Operations Specialist to oversee the management, maintenance, and optimization of our data center infrastructure., * Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data center technicians.
- Prioritize and manage workload across team.
- Direct build activities and review build documentation.
- Act as the primary onsite point of contact.
- Manage escalations and provide advanced troubleshooting support.
- Coordinate operational activities with other teams.
- Oversee adherence and alignment to standards, SOPs, safety guidelines, and escalation protocols.
- Review, approve, and contribute to build documentation and procedural updates.
- Provide timely documentation of activities, incidents, and updates in ticketing systems., * Resources will assist client with rack, stack and installation of key data center equipment.
- They will help trouble shoot common issues, work through various tickets and act as a level 1 administrator for any data center issues.
- Do mechanical assembly/disassembly and install heavy GPU trays into systems
- Build up prototype open board systems on the benchtop and debugging issues reported by users.
- Triage and debug systems and get systems to pass base line diagnostics.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as technical leader and people leader
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working in a data center, NOC, or infrastructure support environment.
- Strong understanding of server, storage, and networking hardware.
- Familiarity with Windows/Linux OS fundamentals and basic command-line usage.
- Knowledge of rack/stack, structured cabling, power, and cooling best practices.
- Ability to work with hand tools and perform physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment (shift/rotation flexibility).
Preferred:
- Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
- Understanding of IP networking and structured cabling standards.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, or vendor specific credentials.
- Familiarity with ITSM systems (ServiceNow, Jira).
- Experience with monitoring platforms and basic scripting., * Strong data center experience with rack and stack,
- Minimum of 3 years on-prem large scale data center experience supporting the Data Center equipment and/or infrastructure (Power, Space, Cooling, Equipment)
- Strong cabling skills, cable management and dressing
- Strong NW troubleshooting experience, ideally with Supermicro Servers, Infiniband Fabric and Mellanox, Arista Hardware
- Strong attention to detail, independent and out of box thinking
- Solid skills in UNIX (Ubuntu or RedHat) administration and knowledge of commands including logging into the server’s to monitor for disk failures, debug systems, etc
- Break fix server expertise including mechanical assembly/disassembly, installing heavy GPU trays, changing system configs and building up prototypes.
