Sysadmin / Software Engineer (RE1-2) Job Reference: 532_25_CASE_DPPP_RE1-2Closing Date: Friday, 31 July **Starting date: 01 August **About BSCThe Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing centre in Spain, hosting MareNostrum, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers.BSC combines HPC service provision with research and development in computer and computational science, and employs over 1,000 staff from 60 countries.Context and MissionThe Creative Intelligence Lab works with industry and academia to develop software and applications that leverage high?performance computing to solve real problems.This role focuses on designing and implementing data infrastructures for streaming data, including cloud resources, internal applications, AI models and interactive experiences across arts and entertainment.Key DutiesDevelop and deploy distributed storage and streaming processing software.Implement backend architectures based on storage, computation, and communication requirements.Maintain and manage laboratory digital systems (cloud servers, workstations, external and internal apps).Safeguard data and system security.Transfer knowledge and technology to other group projects.Attend technical meetings and produce reports and documentation of managed structures.RequirementsEducationMSc in Informatics, Computer Science or Engineering.Or PhD in a related field with experience in Informatics, Computer Science or Engineering.Essential Knowledge and Professional ExperienceServer?side programming (Python, Java, Node, or Scala) - 0-2 years.Backend development and system administration - 1-3 years.Cloud computing storage services and technologies (virtual machines, Docker), especially OpenStack - 0-2 years.Online security best practices - 0-2 years.Relational and non?relational databases - 1-5 years.Additional Knowledge and Professional ExperienceDistributed computing and storage infrastructures (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) - 0-2 years.Applied Big Data and data?processing projects in production - 0-2 years.Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.CompetencesStrong initiative for multidisciplinary innovation projects.Excellent communication skills, especially for internal documentation (manuals, white papers).Conditions and BenefitsLocation: BSC, CASE Department.Full?time contract (35 h/week) with flexible hours, extensive training, restaurant tickets, private health insurance and relocation support.Duration: Open?ended contract linked to project and budget duration.Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + observances of 24th and 31st December.Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, aligned with the cost of living in Barcelona.Equal OpportunityBSC-CNS is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.We consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability or any other protected status.#J-*****-Ljbffr
Requirements
