Job description

We’re looking for an experienced 3D Data/Computer Vision Engineer to join one of the world’s leading autonomous vehicle companies. Rather than building new machine learning models, you’ll be responsible for creating the data transformation tooling that enables high-quality perception data to flow between internal systems and external annotation providers.

You’ll work with large-scale multimodal datasets consisting of cameras, LiDAR, calibration information and geometric annotations, building reliable Python tooling that transforms, validates and visualises data at scale.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone from an autonomous vehicles, robotics, drone, perception or computer vision background who enjoys building practical engineering solutions around complex sensor data.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build Python tooling that prepares multimodal sensor data for external annotation platforms.
  • Transform internal data formats into provider-specific schemas and convert completed annotations back into internal systems.
  • Work with images, video, LiDAR, calibration data and geometric annotation structures including polygons, lines and curves.
  • Project 3D sensor data into camera image space using calibration and coordinate transformations.
  • Build visualisation tools that help validate annotation quality and investigate data issues.
  • Process large image and video datasets using cloud-based batch processing rather than local workflows.
  • Design scalable processing pipelines capable of handling tens of terabytes of perception data.
  • Automate manual annotation workflows and improve reliability across multiple external labelling providers.
  • Collaborate closely with perception, ingest and data engineering teams to improve tooling across the autonomous driving platform.

Requirements

We’re interested in engineers who combine strong Python development skills with a solid understanding of computer vision and 3D sensor geometry.

You’ll ideally have experience in several of the following:

  • Strong commercial Python development experience.
  • Computer vision, robotics or autonomous systems.
  • LiDAR, camera or multimodal sensor data.
  • Camera calibration, intrinsic and extrinsic parameters.
  • Coordinate transformations and projection geometry.
  • Point cloud processing.
  • Image and video processing.
  • OpenCV, NumPy, SciPy or similar computer vision libraries.
  • Large-scale batch processing of image or sensor datasets.
  • Cloud processing using AWS or Azure.
  • Parallel data processing using tools such as Ray, Spark or PySpark.
  • Building internal engineering tooling rather than customer-facing applications.

Bonus Experience

Experience in any of the following would be highly beneficial:

  • Autonomous vehicles.
  • Robotics.
  • Drone technology.
  • Humanoid robotics.
  • Sensor fusion.
  • Perception pipelines.
  • Annotation or labelling platforms such as Scale AI, Encord, CVAT, Supervisely or similar.
  • FFmpeg.

About the company

  • Airflow or workflow orchestration.
  • Structure from Motion (SfM), SLAM or 3D reconstruction.

You’ll Succeed If You…

  • Enjoy solving complex engineering problems involving real-world sensor data.
  • Can quickly understand unfamiliar data formats and build practical tooling around them.
  • Have a strong understanding of 3D geometry rather than simply moving data between systems.
  • Like working in fast-moving environments where you can make an immediate impact.
  • Enjoy building robust, scalable tools that other engineering teams rely on every day.

Contract Details

  • Initial 6 month contract with a strong likelihood of extension.
