Job description

You will own .NET/C# engineering at the senior end of a Scrum team building the flagship platform behind a global commodities data and intelligence business. It serves customers across metals, forest products and agricultural markets with critical price data, news and analytics, delivered through web, desktop, API, Excel and mobile. The engineering team is global, spanning engineers, business analysts and product managers, and it is growing as the business scales its product delivery. The role is based in Bulgaria, remote bar a couple of office days a month., As a Principal Engineer you report to the Engineering Manager and sit as an individual contributor, so you lead through technical direction rather than line management. Day to day you will write clean, performant code to SOLID principles, build high-scale distributed systems that stay fault-tolerant, and mentor the engineers around you on good design and engineering practice. The team takes an engineering approach to new services, favouring metrics over opinion.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Azure (Service Fabric, Service Bus, Event Hubs, Blob Storage)
  • Distributed and cloud computing at scale, fault-tolerant systems
  • Solid design principles
  • Mentoring junior engineers and setting technical direction
  • Strong written and spoken English

What You’ll Work With:

  • Angular, TypeScript
  • SQL Server and CosmosDB (NoSQL)
  • REST, WebSockets (SignalR) and gRPC
  • Redis (messaging and caching)
  • Microservices
  • Continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), test automation and unit testing

Nice to Haves:

  • AI tooling to speed up development

Why Join?

You will be a principal engineer and an individual contributor, so this is technical leadership without line management. You set coding standards, guide design and mentor the engineers around you, while still writing production code yourself. The platform is the company’s flagship product, delivering price data, news and analytics to global customers through web, desktop, API, Excel and mobile, so the systems you build carry serious load. The stack is modern .NET on Azure and the team reaches for the latest relevant technology in its work. The office ask is light, two days a month with the rest remote, and base salary comes with a 10% bonus.
