The Senior Director, Business Risk - Data & AI Management serves as the senior embedded front line risk executive supporting the Data & AI Management organization and acts as the primary risk advisor to executive business leadership. This role is accountable for stewardship of the organization’s risk profile, ensuring that evolving AI, data, analytics, and technology capabilities are developed and deployed in a manner that aligns with enterprise risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and strategic business objectives.
As the designated risk leader for the Data & AI Management function, this individual partners closely with business, technology, engineering, and governance leaders to proactively identify emerging risks, influence key decisions, and integrate effective risk management practices into day-to-day operations. The role provides strategic oversight for enterprise AI and data initiatives, including advanced and evolving capabilities such as FORGE, balancing innovation, speed-to-market, and responsible governance.
The Senior Director leads a team of embedded risk professionals while assuming ownership of governance and oversight responsibilities across the function. This leader helps drive enterprise-wide adoption of responsible AI practices, data governance standards, and risk management frameworks, while enabling business teams to navigate a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. Success in this role requires the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, influence senior executives, and provide credible thought leadership on AI, data strategy, emerging technologies, and associated risks.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across AI, data management, risk, and financial services, with a proven track record of leading AI-enabled transformation initiatives and advising senior leaders on the responsible adoption of emerging technologies. This individual must possess strong executive presence, exceptional partnership skills, and the ability to drive innovation while maintaining appropriate governance, oversight, and regulatory compliance.
Key Leadership Responsibilities

Serve as the senior embedded risk leader for the Data & AI Management organization and primary risk advisor to executive leadership.

Provide strategic risk oversight for enterprise AI, data, analytics, and emerging technology initiatives, including FORGE and future innovation platforms.

Partner with business, technology, engineering, legal, compliance, and risk teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the lifecycle of AI and data solutions.

Influence strategic decisions by integrating risk considerations early in the planning, design, and implementation of new capabilities.

Lead the development and execution of governance frameworks that promote responsible AI adoption, sound data management practices, and regulatory compliance.

Enable innovation by helping teams navigate complex regulatory, policy, and governance requirements while maintaining business momentum and delivery objectives.

Assume ownership of key governance and oversight responsibilities supporting the Data & AI Management organization.

Lead and develop a team of embedded risk professionals responsible for monitoring, assessing, and reporting on business risk exposure.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives on AI governance, emerging technology risks, data strategy, and evolving regulatory expectations.

Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management while supporting business growth and transformation., 1. Maintain oversight of business risk exposures, operational risk trends, governance priorities, and remediation outcomes. 2. Serve as the primary risk advisor to business leadership regarding operational, regulatory, and governance-related matters. 3. Lead embedded risk professionals responsible for governance execution, risk monitoring, reporting, and business support activities. 4. Evaluate business risk themes and determine appropriate escalation, governance, and management actions. 5. Ensure enterprise risk requirements are translated into business-specific governance expectations and operating practices. 6. Partner with business leaders to incorporate risk considerations into strategic planning, operational decision-making, and change initiatives. 7. Oversee business readiness for audits, examinations, governance reviews, and enterprise assessments. 8. Support executive discussions regarding business risk profile, governance effectiveness, and operational performance. 9. Promote business accountability for risk ownership and governance outcomes. 10. Monitor effectiveness of governance execution performed by managers, specialists, and analysts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Economics, Public Administration, or equivalent professional experience
- 10+ years of experience in operational risk management, governance, compliance, audit, controls, or related disciplines
- Strong understanding of enterprise governance requirements, operational risk practices, issue management processes, and remediation activities
- Experience supporting governance reporting, audits, regulatory examinations, and risk management programs
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to analyze operational risks and governance challenges and communicate findings effectively
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders and business functions
