Cloud Architect

• Lead the design and delivery of Apex’s Cloud Platform Modernization approach and framework with clients in various stages of cloud-data maturity.
• Works closely with client application teams to understand the current architecture of the applications and develops solution architecture, application migration and integration plans, and new features for a move to cloud environment.
• Advises on the architecture against various criteria, considering factors such as scalability, security, and performance, including how best to leverage using AWS native services.
• Advise clients on cloud application architecture best practices and leverage the strengths of the platform to meet the specific requirements and use cases around architecture, standards and governance.
• Build strong client, industry, and technical community relationships and represent Apex Systems as leaders in Industry and Professional events and communities. Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships
• Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and implementation skills. Stay current on relevant technology trends and practices. Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate collaborative teamwork.
• Produce high quality deliverables, meet project deadlines, and take responsibility for engagement success. Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement.

• Identify and evaluate new team members through professional networking and technical screening

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise architecture and/or development with 3+ years designing cloud-based solutions primarily leveraging AWS native services.
• Has led end-to-end migrations to AWS cloud environment.
• Experience in design of medium to large sized applications, preferably in the cloud and/or container environment
• Experience with event streaming and web service protocols like SOAP, REST, JSON, RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Experience with containerization Kubernetes and/or Docker for Java and/or .NET based applications
• Experience with SOA /Micro services-based Architecture, API management, Session /Token management with the API Gateway like Data Power
• Adept at leveraging AWS-native services in a serverless environment (i.e., services related to data ingress, storage, engineering and analytics such as Lambdas, Step Functions, SQS, MSK)
• Knowledge of user authentication and authorization flows between multiple systems, servers, and environments
• Experience with Design Patterns and Modeling tools
• In an architect role, experienced with leading team of developers and other technical professionals in an Agile delivery framework
• Positive relationship builder able to navigate through complex situations to ensure the most robust and pragmatic solution
• Strong analytical skills and the aptitude to quickly identify gaps and risks
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills including the ability to help stakeholders navigate the trade-offs and alternatives to various solution architectures
• BA/BS required, preferably in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields (applicable education and experience may be substituted)
• Advanced degree (MS) in a quantitative discipline preferred (applicable experience may be substituted)

Technical Requirements:

• Has leveraged AWS native services for ingestion, enrichment, integration, and accessibility, and AWS native tooling, such as Lambdas, SQS, Step Functions, S3.
• Experience with DataOps concepts and tooling for source control and setting up CI/CD pipelines on AWS.
• AWS Solutions Architect certification preferred but experience may be substituted.
