Design System Engineer

Design System ArchitectFactorial is looking for a systems thinker with technical firepower, a builder mindset, and a strong design eye. The role owns the architecture of our company?wide design system, evolving it into a product infrastructure that fuels consistency, quality, and speed across every team. The ideal candidate engineers the product underneath the system and lays foundations for design and engineering to move at 10x speed with 10x consistency.What You’ll DoLead and scale the design system across the company.Define the technical architecture, tooling, documentation, governance, and implementation plan; re?think how design systems operate in an AI?native product development flow.Design and implement AI skills, building tools and plugins that connect Figma to code to AI?driven workflows.Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks (Evals); partner with design, frontend, and product to ensure pixel?perfect execution at scale and drive best practices around accessibility, responsiveness, and usability.Stay close to customers through calls, reviews, and feedback sessions to deeply understand real workflows, pain points, and constraints.Share knowledge and raise the bar: mentor peers, document learnings, and contribute to Factorial’s AI engineering best practices.What We’re Looking ForAI as a habit - you have built real AI?powered systems or workflows, not just experiments.Proven impact - you have shipped projects or side contributions that made a measurable difference.Product?first thinking - you design complete experiences, not just isolated components.Speed & adaptability - you experiment, learn, and iterate fast.Bonus: experience with LLMs, skill?based agents, MCP, or other AI protocols.Strong foundation in React, TypeScript, and the modern frontend ecosystem.Strong understanding of Figma, tokens, and component libraries.Experience translating early concepts into production?grade design systems.Product sense - you understand why components exist.Builder mindset - you ship fast, clean, and don’t wait for perfect specs.Bonus: you have built or contributed to internal tooling, plugins, or Figma?to?code pipelines; you have explored ways to use AI to automate or accelerate parts of the design?to?dev flow; you view design systems as a strategic layer, not just a UI toolkit.We care far more about what you’ve built than the stack you used.We believe in diverse talent and inclusion.
