Job description
We are seeking a COBOL developer to support business needs. The programmer will maintain and support the integrity of various operating system environments and computer systems. This role involves working on high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of a given program and performing all functional duties independently., * Read and write COBOL programs.
- Read and write JCL.
- Administer, install, and troubleshoot system issues.
- Perform system maintenance tasks such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance.
- Schedule, install, and test system software upgrades.
- Configure software and resolve technical problems.
- Monitor and maintain software licensing and maintenance agreements.
- Navigate TSO and use its various functionalities.
- Oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain & maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Requirements
Experience: A minimum of thirteen (13) to twenty (20) years of relevant experience is required. All Candidates must be eligible to obtain & maintain a Public Trust clearance. Candidates must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years and cannot have more than 6 months of travel outside the United States within the last five years, with an exclusion for military service.
Technical Skills:
- 10+ years of experience developing/programming in COBOL/CICS.
- Experience with JCL/PROCS, IMS DB, and UTILITIES (e.g., SORT, IEBGENER).
- Knowledge of file structures including VSAM, DB2, and ORACLE.
- Proficiency with TSO/SPF and debugging tools like ABEND-AID.
- Experience with SQL and PL/SQL.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Education: A degree from an accredited college or university in the applicable field of services is preferred. Four additional years of relevant experience are required in lieu of a college degree. If the degree is not in the applicable field, four additional years of related experience are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Web Services experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Software Development Lifecycle experience (Waterfall or Agile).
- Knowledge of ChangeMan source handling software.
- Knowledge of VSAM file processing and File-Aid.
- Knowledge of Outlook.
- Active or Prior Public Trust or DoD level clearance is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain & maintain a Public Trust Clearance..
- Must pass a client-mandated clearance process including a drug screening, criminal history check, and credit check.
