Staff Software Engineer

Experteer Overview In this Staff Software Engineer role, you own the internal tooling layer that connects Wellvana’s data platform with analysts, clinical operations, and partners. You’ll build and maintain web and desktop interfaces to make data products usable, while contributing to data engineering work. The role spans frontend, backend, APIs, authentication, deployment, and observability, with a focus on practical, ship-ready solutions for a small team. You’ll partner with data engineering to surface pipeline outputs and metrics, and drive consistency across the engineering stack. You’ll be part of a mission-driven company transforming healthcare delivery through value-based care. Compensation / Benefits * Architect, build, and maintain internal web and desktop applications for clinical operations, analytics, and data engineering teams * Own the full stack: frontend interfaces, backend APIs, authentication, deployment, and observability * Collaborate with data engineering to surface pipeline outputs, data quality signals, and operational metrics in usable interfaces * Establish frontend and application engineering conventions where none exist * Contribute to data engineering work (pipeline development, Dagster assets, dbt models) as needed * Evaluate and adopt tooling, frameworks, and infrastructure suitable for a small team * Translate ambiguous requirements from non-technical stakeholders into scoped, shippable software * Raise the application development baseline through pairing, review, and conventions * Deploy and manage containerized applications on AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, or equivalent) * Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deployment and integration * Collaborate with analytics, clinical ops, and product to ensure software meets user needs * Build and maintain API-based integrations between internal apps and the data platform * Stay current with industry trends to continuously improve development practices Tasks * 8+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated scope growth * 3+ years of cloud deployment experience on AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront) * 3+ years of production experience with a modern frontend framework (React preferred) * 3+ years of backend API development in Python or Node * Demonstrated use of AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar) in professional workflows * Healthcare or regulated-data environment experience is a plus * Integrity, Dependability, Advocacy, Clarity (soft quals) * Bachelor’s in CS/Software Engineering or equivalent experience Key requirements *
