Job description

Role summary: As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and models that support critical business decisions. Leveraging expertise in data integration, governance, and quality, you will transform complex data into actionable insights while ensuring compliance with data standards. Collaborating across functions, you will apply advanced techniques to optimize data accessibility and reliability within cloud and big data environments. This role demands a strategic mindset to align data solutions with business objectives, driving innovation and operational excellence through robust engineering practices. About the team: The eComm Decision Sciences BI team focuses on defining and governing key business metrics and stewarding business logic. The team enhances data accessibility by developing and maintaining integration tables and standardizes dashboard reporting and data visualization across eCommerce. They ensure data quality through rigorous control of beacon instrumentation, enabling reliable insights. This team leverages expertise in data engineering, integration, modeling, and governance to build scalable data pipelines and automate processes that support informed business decisions and drive continuous improvement in data quality and accessibility. What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions using SQL and cloud-based platforms.
  • Apply data modeling techniques to create logical and physical data models supporting business intelligence and analytics.
  • Ensure data quality and governance standards are met through rigorous validation and compliance practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data solutions aligned with strategic goals.
  • Automate data workflows leveraging tools such as Apache Airflow to optimize processing efficiency.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data systems to maintain reliability and performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and documentation to support team knowledge and project continuity.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in data engineering, including data integration, modeling, and pipeline development.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, or Google BigQuery.
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance, quality standards, and data management best practices.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable data architectures and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data solutions.
  • Familiarity with automation tools like Apache Airflow to optimize workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on business metrics and intelligence., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related field. Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field. Option 3: Master’s degree in Computer Science and 1 year’s experience in software engineering or related field. 2 years’ experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.
