The Faculty of Civil Engineering at Graz University of Technology is offering a tenure-track position in the emerging field of Data Analytics in Transportation., * a list of publications.

  • a list of research projects.
  • a research statement describing past and planned research activities (2 pages max.).
  • a teaching statement (2 pages max.) and evaluations of past teaching activities (if available)., The advertised position is a tenure-track position. The initial employment will be as a University Assistant with a PhD. After the conclusion of a qualification agreement, the job holder is appointed as an Assistant Professor. After a positive evaluation of the qualification agreement, the position will be turned into a permanent position as an Associate Professor. Requirements

Graz University of Technology is seeking highly motivated and qualified researchers in the field of data analytics in transportation. The role is embedded in the Institute of Highway Engineering and Transport Planning, where the candidate will strengthen our research portfolio and expand our institute, with an emphasis on innovative data for data-driven transportation research and sustainable mobility innovation. Topics of interest include Transportation Data Analytics, Mobility Data Science, Spatial Transportation Analysis, Applied Machine Learning in Civil Engineering, Sustainable Transportation Systems, and Environmental and Health Impacts or related topics. Responsibilities of this position include research, teaching, and the establishment of a research group for data-driven transportation research. Teaching duties include courses within the university’s Bachelor’s program in Civil Engineering and the Master’s program in Civil Engineering - Sustainable Infrastructure System, offered in both German and English. Candidates are expected to have strong expertise in the field of Transportation Analytics, proven by international publications and experience in leading research projects with excellent experience at the intersection of academia, applied research, and industry collaboration. Candidates are expected to maintain an active publication record and visible presence at conferences and events, to acquire and lead research projects, to supervise bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses, and to contribute to academic service. Employment Requirements

  • Ph.D. in transportation engineering or civil engineering
  • B.S. and MSc. in civil engineering or a closely related field
  • Relevant university-level teaching experience on the bachelor, master and doctoral level (minimum of two years experience after the Ph.D. degree)
  • Excellent qualification in teaching, supported by students’ feedback and/or teaching awards
  • Visible involvement within the transportation research community
  • Strong record of grant applications, funding, and management of collaborative research projects
  • Sufficient leadership experience and the ability to lead a research team
  • Proficiency in German and English, * Strong expertise in the field of Transportation Analytics, including expertise in mobility data science, transportation planning, traffic engineering, spatial transportation analysis, or transportation sustainability and resilience
  • The ability to work in a team and willingness for cooperation within and outside the university
  • Competences in gender, diversity and inclusion, To ensure international representation of the research group and its work, excellent spoken and written competence in English is expected.
