Senior Data Engineer/Data Developer

We’re supporting a high-profile government digital transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer/Data Developer to join a multidisciplinary Agile delivery team.

This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging data integration and transformation projects within a secure environment, helping deliver innovative digital services that support critical public sector operations.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in designing and delivering robust data engineering solutions, working with complex datasets and modern integration technologies. The role involves developing scalable data pipelines, automating workflows and building services that transform and integrate intelligence, investigative and digital forensic data.

Working alongside Architects, Business Analysts, and Engineers, you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of secure, high-quality solutions in an Agile environment., * Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.

• Develop data transformation and integration services using Python and Java.
• Transform, map and integrate complex structured data, including XML and JSON.
• Automate data workflows and support rapid service prototyping.
• Deliver secure, reliable and maintainable data solutions.
• Collaborate within Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams to solve complex technical challenges.
• Contribute to solution design, technical improvements and continuous delivery practices.

• Strong commercial experience developing with Python.
• Experience developing applications or services using Java.
• Proven experience delivering complex ETL/ELT and data integration solutions.
• Strong understanding of data transformation, mapping and integration techniques.
• Experience working with XML, JSON and structured data formats.
• Experience designing and developing scalable data processing solutions.
• Previous delivery within Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Highly Desirable

• Experience working with Central Government, Policing, Law Enforcement or other secure public sector environments.
• Knowledge of GDS standards and ways of working.
• Experience working with intelligence or investigative data models (for example IES or similar standards).
• Experience integrating relationship or graph-based datasets.
• Knowledge of entity resolution, identity matching or link analysis.
• Experience handling digital forensic, evidential or investigative datasets.
• Familiarity with secure government platforms and sensitive data handling.
• Existing NPPV3 clearance or the ability to obtain it.
