Job description

Base Location: You’ll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations :London, Reading, Havant, Glasgow or Perth

The role

This role offers the opportunity to innovate how risk, controls and assurance activities are assessed by applying advanced analytics, statistical modelling and AI to identify emerging risks, strengthen control insights and support more proactive decision-making. Working at the intersection of data science and assurance, the role will help shape scalable, data-driven approaches that improve the efficiency, consistency and impact of audit, risk and controls work across the Group.

You will

  • Use data, analytics and AI to help improve how risks, controls and assurance activities are identified, monitored and understood.
  • Build statistical and machine learning models that detect patterns, anomalies and emerging risks across complex data sets.
  • Develop dashboards, visualisations and clear insights that help teams make better decisions and take action with confidence.
  • Work closely with assurance, risk, controls and technology colleagues to turn business questions into practical data solutions. Support the responsible use of data and AI by ensuring models and outputs are clear, well-documented and fit for purpose.

You have

  • Experience using data, analytics or AI to solve practical business problems and turn complex information into clear insight.
  • Strong skills in data analysis, statistical modelling or machine learning, with the ability to work confidently with large and varied data sets.
  • Good technical capability in tools such as SQL, Python, Databricks or Power BI, or the ability to quickly build capability in similar platforms.
  • A clear and collaborative communication style, with the ability to explain technical work in plain English and work well with people from different backgrounds and specialisms.
  • A curious, responsible and improvement-focused mindset, with sound judgement on data quality, privacy, model transparency and the ethical use of AI.
