  • graph decompositions, width measures, and decomposition-obstruction dualities;
  • algorithmic and structural aspects of graph classes;
  • graph minors and graphs on surfaces;
  • vertex-minors and structural theory of matroids;
  • structural theory of sparse graphs;
  • coarse graph theory;
  • descriptive complexity theory;
  • logic on graphs and other discrete structures, particularly algorithmic aspects and expressive power;
  • elements of model theory, particularly stable theories and dependent theories.

Candidates are expected to have international research experience in one or more of the topics listed above, witnessed by a strong publication record in mathematical journals and/or conferences in theoretical computer science.

Requirements

The Algorithmic graph theory group in the department of mathematics at the Technical University Darmstadt seeks to fill several open full-time positions for PostDocs. We are looking for candidates who seek (further) academic qualification in one or more of the following fields:

  • structural graph theory;
  • design of algorithms on discrete structure;
  • finite model theory. structures, PhD or equivalent, * Outstanding PhD degree in mathematics, computer science, or a related field at the start of the employment;
  • Interest and ambition for mathematical research;
  • Active participation in an open, vibrant, and collaborative research atmosphere within the group;
  • Solid background appropriate to the applicant’s stage of career in one or more of the following areas:
  • structural graph theory;
  • design of algorithms on discrete structures;
