Job description

  • Senior Software Engineer position for AI integration and agentic platform development.
  • Focuses on Python backend development, Kubernetes container orchestration, and applied AI integration using LLMs, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Utilizes additional technologies including Java, Spring, Git, Docker, Linux, LangChain, NiFi, Kafka, AWS, Azure, SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL., * Design and develop Python-based components for a core agentic platform.
  • Deploy, manage, and scale applications within Kubernetes (K8s) environments.
  • Build Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and a library of reusable skills (function calling/tools) that enable AI agents to safely interact with internal databases, microservices, and external APIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help them expose their Java-based APIs to AI agents.
  • Implement strict enterprise AI guardrails, ensuring data privacy, sensitive data scrubbing, prompt injection defenses, and output validation.
  • Maintain strong testing skills, including automated testing pipelines for non-deterministic AI outputs.
  • Integrate commercial LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) or open-source models into production backend applications.
  • Apply modern AI concepts such as prompt engineering, agents, function-calling/tool-use, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Design enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and Microservices architecture.
  • Utilize configuration management tools including Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker.
  • Work comfortably on a Linux command line.
  • Assist teams in connecting components to the agent platform using Java frameworks (e.g., Spring).
  • Utilize Python-based AI integration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen).
  • Work with Vector Databases, semantic caching, AI observability tools, NiFi, Kafka, and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
  • Work with SQL databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL), distributed databases, or NoSQL databases.
  • Maintain DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications if required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, with active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.

Telework: This position supports a hybrid work arrangement, requiring an average of 1-2 days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering with a strong focus on Python backend development and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
