Experteer Overview As a Software Engineer 2 at eBay, you contribute to backend platform services, internal tools, and infrastructure that power a global customer support experience. You work closely with senior engineers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions and learn platform systems through hands-on coding and debugging. This role sits in a platform engineering team focused on enabling other engineers to build faster and more reliably. You will have the opportunity to influence throughput, reliability, and observability in our support systems, shaping how millions of users engage with our platform. Compensation / Benefits * Develop and maintain backend services, platform components, and internal tools * Contribute to APIs, automation frameworks, and shared platform capabilities * Write clean, testable, maintainable code following team standards * Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies * Resolve development and production issues with mentorship * Support system reliability and performance improvements * Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and SRE teams * Learn and apply best practices in scalability and system design Tasks * BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) * 2-4 years of software engineering experience * Proficiency in Java (or similar backend language) * Experience building or contributing to RESTful APIs or backend services * Basic understanding of distributed systems concepts * Databases (SQL; NoSQL exposure is a plus) * Version control (Git) * CI/CD pipelines * Unit testing and debugging Key requirements * base pay * target bonus * restricted stock units * medical/health benefits * 401(k) eligibility * paid time off
