Job description
The Virginia Vital Events and Screening Tracking System (VVESTS) is currently a PL/SQL Web toolkit application running on Mod PL/SQL gateway. This technology is outdated. All modules in VVESTS capture and deal with highly sensitive data (PII and PHI), so web application security is a high priority. It is critical to use the latest web technologies, JavaScript/jQuery frameworks, templates, and CSS styles to mitigate security vulnerabilities and enforce strict compliance with HIPAA regulations. VVESTS is a critical system developed by VDH, hosting applications like Virginia’s Birth Registry, Death Registry (EDRS), and Screening Registry. VVESTS has multiple interfaces with Virginia State agencies (LVA, DSS, DMV, DCLS) and federal agencies (SSA, CDC, NCHS, NAPHSIS), and performs data exchanges with the Virginia Immunization Information System (VIIS). Key responsibilities include:
- Migrate all PL/SQL Web toolkit modules or pages to Oracle APEX.
- Focus on the data modernization of vital statistics and vital records related projects.
- Work as part of the Virginia Department of Health, Office of Information Management (OIM) team to plan, coordinate, develop, and implement data modernization of vital statistics and vital records related projects.
