Job description

Experteer Overview As a Senior Azure Cloud Architect for HDR, you will lead the design, security, and modernization of the Azure-based healthcare data platform hosted in VAEC. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, security, and scalable cloud architecture for production and non-production environments. You will drive architecture diagrams, implementation plans, and operational procedures that support mission-critical VA data services. This role offers the opportunity to shape cloud-native modernization and enterprise resilience in a regulated government context. Compensation / Benefits * Design and maintain HDR’s Microsoft Azure Government infrastructure across environments (production, DR, non-production) * Configure Azure networking components: VNets, subnets, NSGs, application gateways, load balancers, traffic managers * Develop architecture artifacts: diagrams, designs, deployment plans, test plans, operational procedures * Improve security posture: network segmentation, TLS/cert management, IAM, encryption, logging, vulnerability management * Troubleshoot cross-boundary infrastructure issues across network, OS, middleware, application, and database * Coordinate disaster recovery, high availability, capacity, and continuity planning; support DR exercises * Oversee OS and infrastructure lifecycle (RHEL upgrades, patching, migrations, retirement) * Evaluate cloud-native modernization (containers, messaging, Kubernetes platforms such as AKS/OpenShift) * Enhance monitoring/observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Dynatrace, Prisma Cloud or similar * Develop infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, Bicep, Ansible * Coordinate connectivity changes, firewall, access validation, integration testing, architecture reviews, change planning Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Engineering, or related field or commensurate experience * 12+ years in infrastructure/cloud/engineering/solutions architecture * 4+ years hands-on Microsoft Azure experience * Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure and networking (VNets, subnets, NSGs, load balancing, VMs, storage, identity) * Experience supporting highly available, security-sensitive enterprise systems * Ability to troubleshoot complex multi-domain issues * Working knowledge of cloud security principles (segmentation, least privilege, TLS, encryption, logging, vulnerability mgmt) * Ability to create clear architecture diagrams, designs, and operational docs * Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills Key requirements *
