Job description

  • Oversee engineering operations across a cluster of data centre sites.

  • Lead and develop Data Centre Managers, Engineering Managers and technical teams.

  • Ensure critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure is maintained safely and reliably.

  • Drive engineering performance, resilience and operational consistency across the portfolio.

  • Oversee planned, reactive, statutory and lifecycle maintenance programmes.

  • Manage technical incidents, escalations and root-cause investigations.

  • Ensure compliance with permits, safe systems of work and operational procedures.

  • Monitor performance against contractual KPIs, SLAs and client expectations.

  • Maintain senior-level relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

  • Review operational reports and present performance updates.

  • Support technical projects, asset replacement and infrastructure upgrades.

  • Manage budgets, forecasts, expenditure and commercial performance.

  • Identify efficiencies, cost savings and service improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing, succession planning and team development.

  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

This is a senior technical leadership role with responsibility for engineering performance, operational delivery, people management and client relationships across multiple critical sites.

The successful candidate must come from a strong technical engineering background and have proven experience managing teams and services within data centres, critical environments or complex building services operations., * Strong technical background within electrical, mechanical or building services engineering.

  • Senior management experience within data centres or critical environments.

  • Experience overseeing multiple sites or a regional engineering portfolio.

  • Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

  • Proven experience leading managers, engineers and specialist contractors.

  • Good commercial and financial awareness.

  • Strong client, stakeholder and contract management skills.

  • Relevant technical, engineering or management qualifications.

  • Confident leadership style with strong communication and decision-making skills.
