Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join an innovative product development team working on next-generation embedded technology. This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you’ll play a key part in developing secure, network-connected embedded products from concept through to production.

You’ll be joining a collaborative engineering environment, working alongside firmware, hardware, software, test and compliance teams to deliver cutting-edge products for a global customer base. About the Role

  • Design and develop embedded software for network-connected products.
  • Implement secure communication protocols including HTTPS/TLS.
  • Develop production-quality embedded C/C++ software for real-time systems.
  • Design and maintain low-level software drivers and hardware interfaces.
  • Support secure networking functionality and cybersecurity implementation.
  • Contribute to software architecture, code reviews and technical design discussions.
  • Debug and resolve complex embedded software issues.
  • Work closely with hardware, firmware, test and compliance engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Produce technical documentation and support product certification activities.
  • Contribute within an Agile development environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent commercial experience).
  • 5+ years’ experience in embedded software development.
  • Strong Embedded C and/or C++ (C+/14 desirable).
  • Experience developing production code for real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M processors or similar.
  • RTOS experience (ThreadX, Azure RTOS, FreeRTOS or similar).
  • Bare-metal embedded development.
  • Experience developing low-level drivers.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP and HTTP/S.
  • Experience implementing secure communications and cybersecurity features.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Desirable Experience

  • STM32 microcontrollers.
  • SPI, I2C, I2S, UART and DMA.
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread, Matter or Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Audio DSP, digital filtering or signal processing.
  • Hardware test and debugging.
  • Cybersecurity standards or connected product regulations (e.g. IEC 62443, Cyber Resilience Act).
  • Supporting compliance, certification or product security activities.
