Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Database Developer to support the migration of a large-scale KDB+ data platform to Snowflake. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing a new Snowflake-based data platform while supporting the existing KDB+ environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, contribute to data architecture and platform migration, and help build scalable, high-performance data solutions supporting critical financial data workflows., * Lead the migration of data and applications from KDB+ to Snowflake.

Design, develop, and optimize scalable database solutions for large-scale data platforms.
Review and enhance data management processes, data models, and access controls.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and define migration strategies.
Support and maintain the existing KDB+ platform during the migration process.
Develop and optimize data engineering solutions on Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
Perform database performance tuning, testing, version upgrades, and platform enhancements.
Develop Python scripts for automation and data processing tasks.
Ensure high availability, performance, and resiliency of enterprise data platforms.
Participate in Agile development activities and deliver high-quality solutions within project timelines.

Requirements

Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data platforms.
Strong knowledge of RDBMS technologies and database performance optimization.
Experience with Python scripting and development.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
Knowledge of SQL, database engineering, and data management concepts.
Understanding of data modeling and ETL processes.
Exposure to KDB+/q or a strong willingness to learn.
Experience working with large-scale transactional or time-series data platforms is preferred.
Understanding of financial data domains such as inventory, position data, securities lending, or prime brokerage is a plus.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Strong communication, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
High level of ownership, accountability, and eagerness to learn new technologies.
