Backend Engineer

Insight Global is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to support one of our large consulting clients. this role will be supporting cutting-edge projects within the AI space and sitting remotely in Europe.Day-to-DayDesign, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs supporting a high-performance distributed applicationBuild and optimize microservices architecture and event-driven systems to support real-time processing [Backend -Develop server-side logic using Python (FastAPI/Flask) and integrate with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS))Implement and maintain messaging systems and streaming pipelines to support application workflowsCollaborate with cross-functional teams across global time zones to deliver production-ready featuresExecute testing strategies (unit, integration, load) and resolve performance or reliability issuesCommunicate technical progress clearly to both engineering and business stakeholdersREQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE8-10+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments -Strong Python experience building REST APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or similar)Experience designing and deploying microservices in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS) and serverless components (Lambda, SQS, Step Functions) -Experience with databases (SQL + NoSQL) and distributed systems architectureHands-on experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systemsStrong debugging, performance optimization, and system design skillsAbility to communicate technical concepts and progress clearly to non-technical stakeholdersNICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEExperience with GenAI applications or RAG-based systemsExposure to AI-first development environments, including working alongside LLM systems or agentic workflows -Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)Experience with distributed search technologies such as ElasticsearchExperience working in globally distributed engineering teams#J-*****-Ljbffr
