Principal System Engineer (Contract)

Experteer Overview In this role you will drive end-to-end systems engineering for multifunctional systems, collaborating with a cross-functional team to architect, develop, integrate, and test. You will own system and subsystem requirements, manage interfaces, and guide the V-cycle from concept to validation. You’ll translate customer needs into robust architectures and trade studies that shape product delivery at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Own system requirements and subsystem requirements * Interface with customers to capture and prove requirements * Coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive requirements through subsystem design * Develop and own interface control documentation and manage hardware/software/firmware interfaces * Lead the V-cycle artifacts from requirements to validation * Design and maintain system architecture diagrams with stakeholders * Perform trade studies and rapid impact analyses to inform design choices * Analyze to ensure system requirements are addressed by design * Lead toll gate processes from requirements to launch * Navigate ambiguity with minimal guidance Tasks * BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, or related field * 8+ years of industry experience across the product lifecycle (Concept to Delivery) * Proven ability to establish the technical baseline and manage ambiguity * Experience with Systems Engineering tools for Requirements Management and Product Lifecycle Management (e.g., JAMA, Polarion, DOORS) * Experience with MBSE tools (e.g., SparxEA, Capella) * Experience with Python or other OO languages * Experience with Git/GitHub or similar version control systems * Ability to identify gaps, prioritize, and lead cross-team resolution Key requirements *
