Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Architect 3 to help drive enterprise technology strategy, cloud architecture initiatives, and AI-enabled software engineering transformation efforts. This role will focus on evaluating emerging technologies, defining architecture standards, establishing best practices, and helping engineering organizations improve developer productivity through modern platforms and tooling.

This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys influencing technical direction, evaluating new technologies, driving architecture decisions, and partnering with engineering leaders to solve complex business and technical challenges. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends related to AI, cloud computing, autonomy, embedded systems, and software engineering.
  • Assess AI-powered software engineering platforms, coding assistants, and developer productivity tools.
  • Define engineering best practices, governance standards, and architecture recommendations.
  • Drive data-driven decisions regarding technology adoption, engineering productivity, and software development efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve developer experience, software quality, and delivery velocity.
  • Evaluate Kubernetes, containerization technologies, and cloud-native platforms to determine appropriate architectural solutions.
  • Partner with engineering, security, infrastructure, and architecture teams to develop scalable and secure solutions.
  • Create reference architectures, implementation patterns, and technology recommendations.
  • Analyze challenges, identify opportunities, and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Support engineering teams through technical leadership, mentorship, and architecture guidance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture, enterprise architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure, and modern application architectures.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and engineering best practices.
  • Experience with Docker, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of IT security principles and security standards.
  • Experience working with APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology decisions to business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and influence technical direction across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI-assisted software engineering platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies.
  • Java and/or Python development experience.
  • Experience with engineering productivity initiatives and developer experience programs.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience evaluating emerging AI technologies and software engineering tools.
  • TOGAF certification preferred.
  • Experience leading architecture reviews, technical governance, or transformation initiatives.
