Cybersecurity Ops Technologist I (Email Security)

Experteer Overview In this role you protect Travelers’ email ecosystem at scale by administering and optimizing Proofpoint and related controls across a hybrid M365/on-premises environment. You work closely with the SOC to detect, respond, and fine-tune defenses against phishing, BEC, and malware. Your hands-on expertise ensures secure mail flows for 50,000+ mailboxes and alignment with authentication standards. This is a technically specialized, impact-driven position at a company known for innovation and collaboration. Compensation / Benefits * Administer and optimize Proofpoint deployment (TAP, TRAP, Secure Email Relay, Adaptive Email Security, Email Isolation, Email Fraud Defense) in a hybrid environment * Design and maintain mail flow policies, quarantine strategies, and gateway rules to balance threat containment with business continuity * Own DKIM, SPF, and DMARC strategy end-to-end across multiple sending domains and third-party senders * Manage complex mail relay and connector configurations for Microsoft 365 and on-premises Exchange * Analyze threat intelligence and TAP telemetry to identify phishing/BEC/malware campaigns and tune detection rules * Collaborate with the SOC to develop automated response playbooks for email threats * Serve as escalation point for email security inquiries, delivering technical analysis on traces and delivery failures * Evaluate integration of M365 Defender for Office 365 to strengthen layered email defense * Communicate email threat trends and risk posture to security leadership and stakeholders * Perform other duties as assigned Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience) * 2+ years in a technology-related role; 3+ years of dedicated email security engineering preferred * Hands-on experience with Proofpoint (preferred) or equivalent secure email gateway platforms * Proven ability to configure and manage quarantine policies and gateway rules in high-volume mail environments * Deep knowledge of DKIM, SPF, DMARC and related authentication troubleshooting * Solid understanding of mail relay architecture and hybrid Exchange/M365 environments * Experience in SOC-aligned incident handling for email security * Familiarity with M365 Defender for Office 365 is a plus Key requirements * Health insurance from day one * 401(k) with company match up to 5% * Pension plan fully funded by Travelers * Paid time off minimum 20 days + 9 holidays * Wellness program including mental health resources * Volunteer and Matching Gift programs
