Job description

The client is seeking a hands-on Salesforce Developer to support and enhance its enterprise Salesforce platform, with primary responsibility for Sales Cloud and Service Cloud. This contractor will backfill a long-tenured team member and assume ownership of a mature, business-critical environment spanning operational support, enhancements, integrations, and new development. Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (formerly Pardot) remains part of the environment, but it is not expected to be the primary focus of the role. Learn the existing Salesforce environment, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Account Engagement, inherited customizations, integrations, dependencies, conventions, and business rules. Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, platform configuration, and related development tools. Support lead, account, contact, opportunity, product, campaign, case, and customer-service processes while protecting the stability of existing production functionality. Develop and support integrations with internal and third-party systems; resolve synchronization, field-mapping, validation, permissions, duplicate-record, and data-quality issues. Provide operational support for existing Marketing Cloud Account Engagement functionality, including marketing automation and lead-handoff processes, as needed. Perform impact analysis, configuration/development, testing, regression validation, deployment, and post-release support for Salesforce changes. Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, business users, and technical teams to clarify requirements, recommend scalable solutions, and prioritize support and enhancement work. Create and maintain technical and operational documentation so the platform remains supportable beyond the immediate transition. OTHER NOTABLES: This is an ASAP contractor need, and the budget is open based on the candidate’s experience and fit. Remote candidates can be considered, but local candidates able to work hybrid in the Chicago north/northwest suburbs are preferred. The client office will transition from Des Plaines to Northbrook in August 2026. Success will depend on both technical depth and the ability to take ownership of an inherited platform with substantial institutional knowledge embedded in the current solution.

Requirements

Strong hands-on Salesforce development experience supporting Sales Cloud and/or Service Cloud in a production environment. Hands-on development experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL/SOSL, and Salesforce Flow. Strong understanding of Salesforce CRM data and processes, including Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, Cases, Products, Campaigns, and related objects. Experience designing and supporting custom objects, validation rules, approval processes, record-triggered automation, and Salesforce security and sharing models. Experience developing or supporting integrations using Salesforce REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, Named Credentials, OAuth, or comparable integration patterns. Ability to provide day-to-day operational support, diagnose production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and safely modify business-critical Salesforce functionality. Experience gathering requirements and translating Sales, Customer Service, and operational needs into tested, scalable, and maintainable Salesforce solutions. Ability to understand and reverse-engineer a mature environment, preserve existing business logic, improve documentation, and collaborate with business users and IT teams. NICE TO HAVE SKILLS: Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (formerly Pardot), including Engagement Studio, automation rules, forms, campaigns, lead routing, and sales-handoff processes. Service Cloud capabilities such as Case Management, Service Console, Omni-Channel, Knowledge, Entitlements, Email-to-Case, or Web-to-Case. Sales Cloud capabilities such as lead and opportunity management, forecasting, territory management, products, price books, quoting, or Salesforce CPQ / Revenue Cloud. NICE TO HAVE SKILLS (continued): Experience Cloud, Field Service, or integrations using MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica, Azure integration services, or similar middleware. Release management, source control, regression testing, and deployment practices using Git, Salesforce DX, DevOps Center, Copado, Gearset, or similar tools. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Visualforce, Aura components, or experience maintaining legacy Salesforce customizations. Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, or Account Engagement Specialist.
