Job description

The Desktop Technician will be responsible for the installation, configuration and operational maintenance of hardware, software, and related products for end-users. This individual will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure, and will ensure that hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and policies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Operations and Support -
  • Provide professional first contact for users experiencing IT related issues.
  • Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all end-user resources.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting when necessary through diagnostic techniques and asking pertinent questions.
  • Configure and deploy end-user equipment, i.e. Desktops/Laptops, Thin Clients, Tablets and Peripherals.
  • Complete tickets assigned by internal ticket managing system, elevating when appropriate.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
  • Travel to various Co-op locations as needed to work on hardware, or software
  • Maintenance -
  • Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Upgrade and configure end-user applications.
  • Maintain knowledgebase, operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Implement ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
  • Maintain asset database of end user equipment.
  • Participate in department meetings and complete all required trainings for the purpose of maintaining Co-op standards
  • Adhere to all Co-op policies, procedures and employee code of conduct
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Ticketing system technical support?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Associate’s degree in a related field OR 2+ years of Desktop Support experience

  • Required experience
  • Proven experience as a help desk technician or other customer support role
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of remote access systems
  • Preferred experience
  • Hardware o Desktops and Laptops o Printers

  • Software o Windows 11 o Ticket Management Systems o Mitel o Office Suite (Local & O365)

  • Excellent follow through

Complexity/Problem Solving:

  • Must be able to work in an ever changing environment
  • Must provide superior customer service at all times, while maintaining a positive demeanor
  • Must be able to solve problems and issues with little supervision

Other Requirements:

  • Must have and retain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be at least 18 years’ old
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

Attendance Requirements:

Monday through Friday scheduled. However, must be flexible, depending on work flow.

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this position is $20.85 - $31.27. This range represents the full earning potential for the role as skills and tenure grow. The expected hiring range is $21.00 - $22.00 which supports internal equity and aligns with current budget parameters, while preserving the opportunity for future increases.
