Job description
Join the Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) as a S enior Cyber Security Analyst within our Chief Information Security Office (ISO). As a key member of the Security Operations Center, you’ll collaborate with SOC analysts to identify and respond to cyber threats facing state systems. You’ll also serve as a subject matter expert in incident response and provide day-to-day leadership, while contributing valuable insights that strengthen our insider threat program.
Some Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with other security operations team members to respond to escalated information, interpret threat activity, and recommend effective resolutions.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and active member of the state’s Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT). Lead the detection, analysis, containment, and eradication of threats, and conduct after-action reviews to identify process improvements.

Perform forensic evaluation and analysis across all major operating systems. Collect and preserve data/evidence in a forensically sound manner, report findings, and provide support for potential court presentations.

Critically analyze OIT SOC processes and provide strategic feedback to ISO leadership regarding incident identification, artifact preservation, and overall data protection strategies.

Partner with ISO leadership and Security Operations Center (SOC) team members to design, implement, and continuously refine monitoring frameworks and security controls that proactively identify, assess, and mitigate insider threat risks across the state.

Lead day-to-day work activities for junior staff on the SOC .
Requirements
A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis. This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows: Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the Information Security field with an emphasis on forensic examination, intrusion analysis, and incident response.
Substitutions:

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Demonstrated expertise in performing computer forensic examinations, reporting, and remediation recommendations.

In-depth understanding of industry best practices in cyber incident response processes and a proven track record of executing them.

Experience in developing, documenting, and maintaining security procedures.

Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, including servers, cloud infrastructures, routers, switches, firewalls, and associated protocols.

Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GSEC, CEH, or other equivalent credentials from recognized standards bodies.
