Senior Software Engineer (Managed PostgreSQL)

Experteer Overview In this role you help Nebius expand its managed PostgreSQL offering for AI workloads, enabling first-class vector search and smooth migrations from other cloud databases. You will work across the stack, from control plane automation to Postgres internals and performance, with a strong emphasis on reliability and customer impact. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, production-grade features and tooling. This is an opportunity to shape the AI cloud stack at scale, partnering with customers and fellow engineers to solve hard data and performance problems. Compensation / Benefits * Develop control plane and lifecycle automation for Managed PostgreSQL (provisioning, high availability, failover, backups, PITR, upgrades) * Tune and harden PostgreSQL internals (MVCC, WAL, replication, vacuum, planner, extensions) and turn into product features * Build migration tooling to move customers from AWS RDS, Cloud SQL, Azure PostgreSQL and self-managed clusters with minimal downtime * Advance the AI-Postgres story (vector search with pgvector/pgvectorscale, hybrid retrieval) within Nebius AI Cloud * Operate the service as an SRE (define SLOs, observability, incident response, postmortems feedback) * Engage with customers on architecture reviews, performance escalations, and production problems Tasks * 5+ years of professional software engineering with significant PostgreSQL-scale experience (TB+ datasets, replication topologies, known failure modes) * Strong Go backend/systems programming skills * Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals (MVCC, WAL, replication, vacuum, query planning, extensions, partitioning) * Hands-on experience with Patroni/Stolon/pg_auto_failover, pgBackRest/WAL-G, pgBouncer/PgCat, logical replication tooling * Ability to read EXPLAIN ANALYZE and reason about locks and corruptions * Proven ability to write reliable code and tackle complex problems * Teamwork-oriented mindset Key requirements * Competitive compensation * Career growth and learning opportunities * Flexibility and ownership * Collaborative and innovative culture * Impactful AI projects * International environment
