Job description

Carbon+Alt+Delete is a climate tech start-up at the crossroad of technology and sustainability. Our software supports sustainability consultants with measuring and reducing the carbon footprint of companies. We are looking for a driven AI Solutions Architect to strengthen our team.

About the job

We are looking for an AI Solutions Architect to design, orchestrate, and implement advanced AI-driven workflows in our carbon accounting platform. Your mission is to ensure our AI components are well-chosen, well-structured, and robust-ready for production in a compliance-heavy environment.

This is a technical role: you will focus on how to build and integrate the right combination of models, data flows, and APIs into a scalable architecture-not on doing research into novel machine learning algorithms.

You will complement the PM / user expert (domain knowledge + project steering) and the integration developer (platform build and API integration).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • AI Architecture & Workflow Design: Select and combine existing AI/ML/NLP tools and APIs to solve project needs (OCR, LLMs, embeddings, rules-based logic). Design modular, model-agnostic pipelines so we can swap or upgrade models without rebuilding the system. Integrate AI into existing backend workflows for speed, accuracy, and maintainability.
  • Applied Technical Development: Build functional prototypes to prove and refine AI workflows before integration. Work closely with the integration developer to embed AI services in the platform. Optimize system performance for large-scale batch processing and real-time usage.
  • Data Handling & Quality Control: Implement robust handling of heterogeneous datasets (e.g., invoices, emission factors, benchmarks). Develop confidence scoring, explainability, and fallback mechanisms to ensure trust in AI outputs.
  • Human-in-the-Loop Enablement: Build in transparency, traceability, and user validation steps. Design intuitive user experiences for reviewing, correcting, and confirming AI suggestions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sustainability experts to translate functional needs into technical AI solutions. Guide the integration developer on backend logic and data structures for AI workflows.

About your profile

We are looking for someone with:

  • A strong drive to have a positive impact
  • An entrepreneurial mindset to actively contribute to building Carbon+Alt+Delete
  • Fluency in English

In terms of technical skills and experience:

  • AI solutions architecture with proven experience designing end-to-end AI pipelines combining multiple services/models
  • Experience with NLP & LLM integration: embeddings, prompt engineering, and API-based LLM workflows
  • Strong software engineering skills - preferably in Python, with solid code quality and architecture practices
  • Cloud & API integration - ideally AWS, working with managed AI services (e.g., Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic, OCR APIs)
  • Data quality & validation - designing systems for explainability, traceability, and human-in-the-loop review
  • Experience delivering AI solutions into production in compliance-heavy or accuracy-critical domains (e.g., finance, healthcare, climate data).

The following skills and experience are considered as a plus:

  • Experience in carbon accounting, ESG reporting, or sustainability analytics
  • Knowledge of semantic search and vector similarity systems
  • Background in B2B SaaS product development in a scale-up environment.
