Lead Software Engineer

Our client is an established engineering organisation developing innovative software solutions for complex, safety-critical systems. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Software Technical Lead to drive the delivery of advanced software projects and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams., * Lead the software delivery of complex engineering projects.

• Define software architectures for integrated systems.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Translate system requirements into software solutions.
• Ensure software meets quality, safety and performance standards.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineering teams.
• Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
• Support project planning, effort estimation and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will be an experienced software engineer with strong technical leadership skills and a background delivering complex software solutions., * Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

• Significant experience in a senior software engineering or technical leadership role.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and modern development practices.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ability to define system and software requirements.
• Knowledge of software quality, safety principles and secure software development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Technical Experience

Experience with several of the following technologies is desirable:

• C++
• Python
• JavaScript
• HTML, CSS, XML and JSON
• Windows and Linux development
• Backend technologies (Node.js, Django or similar)
• Docker and containerisation
• TCP/IP networking and WebSockets
• SQL and database technologies
• Software debugging and diagnostic tools
• Cyber security principles

Desirable

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

• Real-time or distributed systems
• Control or automation software
• Qt or .NET GUI development
• Messaging frameworks (e.g. RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ)
• REST APIs and web services
• Video or media streaming technologies

The role is available 4 days onsite, 1 day remote. Skills
