Job description
We are seeking an experienced engineer to own the virtualization layer of the Internal Cloud Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) stack. The role will engineer, validate, and maintain a standardized, production-grade VMware-based platform that supports internal cloud workloads such as virtual machines, grid compute, and container platforms. The engineer will ensure availability, performance, resiliency, and operability, and will integrate the platform with broader HCI components through automation. The role will define engineering patterns, platform configurations, and operational standards for designing, validating, upgrading, and supporting virtualized workload domains within the Internal Cloud environment., * Engineer and maintain the VMware-based virtualization platform layer within the Internal Cloud HCI stack.
- Define and govern virtualization engineering patterns, configurations, and operational standards.
- Support lifecycle changes and upgrades, including patching and production change processes.
- Validate performance and resiliency behavior of the virtualization layer across workload domains.
- Partner with automation and platform teams to deliver consistent, automation-driven HCI builds.
- Troubleshoot Linux workloads and infrastructure issues in virtualized environments.
Requirements
- 4-5 years of experience engineering or operating enterprise virtualization platforms in production.
- Hands-on experience with Linux workloads and infrastructure troubleshooting in virtualized environments.
- Proficiency with VMware virtualization concepts and HCI fundamentals, including compute, virtualization, and storage interaction.
- Experience with lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, stability and performance triage, and production change processes.
- Primary Skill: VMware ESX. Secondary Skill: VMware vSAN. Tertiary Skill: Networking.
Preferred Skills:
- 5-7+ years supporting virtualization platforms at enterprise scale.
- Experience operating platforms for multiple workload domains, including VMs, container platforms, and grid or batch compute.
- VMware certification such as VCP, or equivalent training and experience.
- Background in regulated environments with operational readiness, change control, and release governance.
