Lead C++ Software Engineer - (Reston, VA - Hybrid) - FreeWheel

Experteer Overview In this role you will design and implement scalable software and web applications for the ad delivery platform. You will analyze, test, and assist with integrating new apps while guiding documentation and knowledge sharing. You’ll mentor junior engineers and help align technical work with business priorities in a complex environment. You will lead/participate in projects to improve performance, reliability, and deployment of AWS-based infrastructure. This is an opportunity to shape how ads are served at scale across global teams. Compensation / Benefits * Design, architect, and optimize the ad delivery infrastructure for high concurrency, availability, and low latency * Continuously optimize existing systems to support rapid business growth * Own end-to-end software development and coordinate software releases * Collaborate with stakeholders to define product and technical requirements * Document software designs, test results, and technical manuals * Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers * Demonstrate deep engineering methodologies and process redesign skills * Present architectural and design decisions to internal audiences * Develop and manage scalable infrastructure on AWS, with Kubernetes and containerization * Ensure security best practices and compliance in cloud and container environments * Troubleshoot, support and optimize infrastructure in collaboration with operations and development teams * Stay updated on AWS, Kubernetes, and containerization advancements and assess their impact * Partner with global teams to drive automation and innovation * Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth Tasks * In-depth cloud and containerization knowledge * Experience with large-scale online service design, development, and operation * Strong Linux/Unix skills and solid data structures/algorithms * Proficiency in C/C++ or Golang and network programming * Experience with distributed systems and mission-critical environments preferred * Problem-solving mindset and technical innovation * Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and software engineering practices * Teamwork, communication, and ability to work under pressure * Willingness to work with global teams and accommodate meetings outside normal hours * Advertising industry experience a plus * Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; 7-10 years of relevant work experience Key requirements *
