Job description

Experteer Overview As a Design Engineer in Caterpillar’s MHE Hydraulics team, you own the design and optimization of hydraulic systems for mini-excavators. You partner with global teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions that improve machine performance and operator experience. You translate requirements into detailed designs, run tests, and drive continuous improvement from concept through production. This role offers hands-on challenges in mobile hydraulics and a chance to shape product performance at scale. You will work in a collaborative, quality-focused environment that values innovation and practical problem-solving. Compensation / Benefits * Design and develop hydraulic systems and components for mini-excavator applications * Create hydraulic schematics, perform analyses, and optimize system performance for productivity, efficiency, reliability, and cost * Plan, coordinate, and execute prototype builds, lab testing, and machine validation; analyze results and propose design improvements * Develop test plans and validation procedures to verify performance, durability, and quality * Investigate and resolve hydraulic system issues using structured problem-solving methodologies * Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams on component development, reviews, and cost-reduction initiatives * Research emerging technologies to enhance machine performance and future product offerings * Promote quality and continuous improvement while managing priorities and meeting schedules Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent * Experience designing, analyzing, or validating hydraulic or complex systems for construction/off-highway equipment * Experience planning and executing laboratory, bench, or machine-level testing with data collection and analysis * Experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams on component development and quality initiatives Key requirements * Medical, dental, and vision benefits * Paid time off * 401(k) savings plans * Health Savings Account (HSA) * Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) * Career Development
