Job description

This organization is a global leader in specialty materials and advanced manufacturing technology, with deep investment in engineering and R&D. This role sits within a division focused on environmental technologies, working alongside a measurements and controls engineering team responsible for the imaging and inspection systems that support quality and production. You’d be helping bridge early-stage imaging research and the automated inspection tools that run on the manufacturing floor. Top 3 Skills

What You’ll Do

  • Develop software and image processing algorithms for inspection technology
  • Work with the measurements team on data manipulation approaches for production and quality feedback
  • Transfer imaging technology from early stage development into production ready applications
  • Create and update documentation for applications and procedures released to production
  • Train engineering, maintenance, and operations staff on developed applications and procedures
  • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting using data and performance analysis
  • Retrieve, plot, and analyze data to support inspection and quality outcomes
  • Present findings and technical updates to engineering stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Optics
  • Strong programming ability in C# and Python
  • Understanding of object oriented programming and software architecture concepts
  • Knowledge of image processing algorithms such as blob analysis, edge detection, morphology, feature extraction, classification, or metrology
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred / Bonus

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, EE, ECE, or Optics
  • Experience with image processing packages such as Halcon or OpenCV
  • Ability to train CNNs and apply traditional machine learning methods
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and measurement error evaluation concepts
  • Experience interfacing with database management systems
  • Background in metrology, inspection, or product quality within manufacturing
  • Optical measurement system development (optics, lighting, cameras, image acquisition, laser, 3D measurement)
  • Fundamental knowledge of physical optics
