Sr. Linux Administrator

Experteer Overview In this role you will maintain and optimize the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) infrastructure that supports Census data collection and analysis. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure Linux environments and timely software delivery. You will drive operational improvements, provide expert-level troubleshooting, and contribute to mission-critical uptime. This position offers exposure to federal security standards and a path to advanced certifications. Compensation / Benefits * Manage full lifecycle of RHEL servers (provisioning, patching, upgrading, decommissioning) * Develop and maintain automation with Ansible, Bash, and Python for rapid, consistent deployments * Deploy and maintain servers in clustered environments * Performance tuning and optimization for high-throughput data processing * Kernel-level tuning (sysctl), I/O and network performance analysis * Troubleshoot complex performance bottlenecks (CPU, memory, storage, networking) * Serve as escalation point for Operations Center and Unix team * Coordinate with application, storage, and network teams; ensure consistent Linux backups * Implement and maintain security per federal standards (NIST, FISMA, DISA STIGs) and manage SSSD/LDAP/AD integration * Participate in security audits and remediation; on-call 24/7/365 operational support Tasks * 10+ years of dedicated Linux/RHEL engineering/administration experience * Expert-level scripting with Bash and strong Ansible proficiency * Knowledge of Linux storage (LVM, XFS, NFS, CLVM) and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, bonding) * Experience with RHEL 7, 8, and 9 * Performance tuning and kernel parameter analysis (sysctl); troubleshooting with vmstat, iostat, sar, perf * Public Trust clearance eligibility; U.S. citizenship * Bachelor’s degree (or 7+ years of equivalent experience) Key requirements * Medical Insurance * Vision Insurance * Dental Insurance * Life and AD&D Insurance * 401(k) Savings Plan * Paid Holidays
