Job description
We are seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to join our ODS development team. This role will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of backend services within a microservice-based platform deployed on AWS. The ideal candidate has solid hands-on Java and Spring Framework experience and is eager to grow their skills in cloud-native, distributed systems development., * Develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and the Spring Framework
- Collaborate Product Owner and QA to deliver high-quality features
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following team standards and best practices
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retros)
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects and production issues (on call support is required for this role)
- Contribute to technical documentation
- Work with relational databases to design and optimize queries and schemas
- Support the evolution of services within a microservice architecture, with opportunities to grow AWS and cloud deployment skills
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering , or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3-5 years of professional experience developing applications in Java
- Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (version 3 or 4)
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience working with relational databases (SQL, schema design, query writing)
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with PostgreSQL specifically
- Experience with microservices architecture and design patterns
- Experience deploying or working with applications on AWS (e.g., EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS)
- Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to newer Spring Boot / Spring 5+ concepts
Benefits & conditions
Compensation range (base pay): $79,363.00-$130,949.00
This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.
