Job description

Experteer Overview As Principal Engineer on the Engine Networking Team, you’ll drive low-latency, scalable networking for Roblox’s real-time world. You will mentor engineers, shape systems at the core of the game engine, and optimize asset loading, rendering, and network communications. Your work helps deliver a nearly synchronous experience across desktop, mobile, and console clients. This role combines systems programming, performance analysis, and cross-team collaboration to push the limits of real-time multiplayer at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Lead engineers with 8+ years of industry experience * Deeply understand game networking and contribute to open source initiatives * Oversee asset loading, rendering, and networking within a game engine/studio context (desirable) * Write and optimize advanced C++ code, focusing on memory management and performance * Analyze and minimize latency with millisecond precision across network exchanges * Understand OS-level behavior to optimize end-to-end performance Tasks * 8+ years in industry (leadership or senior engineering) * Experience with game engines and multiplayer client/server architectures * Strong C++ systems programming * Fascination with CPU-level operations (pointers, templates, virtualization, memory) * Knowledge of networking, asset loading, and rendering pipelines (desirable) * Experience with very large, multithreaded distributed systems Key requirements *
