This role focuses on hardware bring-up, execution of validation and qualification tests, troubleshooting complex test environments, and automating repetitive workflows. The Test Engineer supports cross-functional engineering teams by coordinating hardware movement, maintaining test infrastructure, and providing clear, actionable reporting that drives product quality and reliability in a dynamic, rapidly evolving engineering environment., * Support hardware integration, bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting activities for satellite antenna hardware systems.

  • Execute electrical validation testing, design validation testing, qualification testing, and hardware recovery workflows across multiple hardware assemblies.
  • Support ambient and thermal chamber test operations for various hardware assemblies and test venues.
  • Configure, integrate, troubleshoot, and maintain test racks, fixtures, and associated hardware infrastructure.
  • Perform hardware assembly, cabling, wire harness troubleshooting, and basic soldering or rework inspection.
  • Read and analyze schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and technical documentation to support test and debug activities.
  • Utilize Linux environments and Python scripting to support debugging, workflow automation, data collection, and log analysis.
  • Modify and validate scripts developed by software and automation teams to ensure they meet test and operational requirements.
  • Analyze failures in PCB and system-level testing, document findings, escalate technical issues, and participate in root cause investigations with engineering teams.
  • Generate clear, organized, and actionable documentation, including test reports, runbooks, and status updates for engineering stakeholders and program leaders.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and propose process improvements to enhance throughput, organization, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate and support interfacility hardware movement and logistics activities across multiple engineering sites.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness within lab and test environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Automation, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering teams to ensure successful hardware delivery and validation.
  • Operate with a high level of professionalism, ownership, integrity, and accountability in a rapidly evolving engineering environment.
  • Contribute to test equipment development and test fixture setup to support new and existing hardware programs.
  • Work closely with engineers to test electronics and printed circuit boards (PCBs), including subsystem bring-up and initial configuration of boards.
  • Review documentation to ensure tests, procedures, and results are accurate, complete, and traceable., * Experience with embedded systems coursework, laboratory environments, or hands-on technical projects.
  • Exposure to hardware integration, bring-up, and validation activities for complex electronic systems.
  • Experience supporting ambient and thermal chamber testing for hardware validation and qualification.
  • Background in documentation review to ensure alignment between test procedures, hardware configurations, and expected outcomes.
  • Interest in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance test efficiency and lab organization.
  • Strong sense of ownership, integrity, and accountability when supporting engineering programs and deliverables.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in Redmond in a lab and test environment that supports satellite antenna hardware systems and associated electronics. The Test Engineer works closely with cross-functional engineering teams and interacts regularly with test racks, fixtures, and a variety of electrical test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators. The work involves hands-on hardware assembly, cabling, and mechanical tasks, as well as time in ambient and thermal chamber test facilities. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent projects. The role requires maintaining a clean, organized, and operationally ready lab space and occasionally lifting and moving moderate-weight equipment as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Experience working with engineers to test electronics and printed circuit boards (PCBs), including bring-up of PCBs and subsystem integration.
  • Hands-on experience with test racks, test equipment development, and test fixtures for electronic hardware.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting failures in PCB testing and lab testing, including debug of hardware and test setups.
  • Ability to configure, integrate, and maintain test racks, fixtures, and associated hardware infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line environments.
  • Familiarity with Python scripting or automation workflows to support debugging, automation, and data analysis.
  • Experience using common electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, or signal generators.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills, including the ability to generate clear test reports and status updates.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently and collaboratively in a lab environment.
  • Comfort working in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent deliverables.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and familiarity with common hand tools and basic hardware assembly practices.
  • Ability to lift and move moderate-weight equipment and hardware in a team environment.
