Job description

Stellar Solutions is seeking a Digital Systems Engineer to support the development of first-of-kind space vehicles, systems, and missions. This role provides Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance to a government rapid capabilities organization responsible for delivering advanced space capabilities at the speed of warfighting relevance. The successful candidate will bring expertise in digital engineering, model-based systems engineering, system architecture, integration, verification, and test within a high-profile, fast-paced environment. Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

You will work within a small, highly empowered team in which each member contributes directly to program success. Engineering responsibilities span space-rated hardware, software, sensors, processors, system models, and integrated digital engineering environments. You will support the government program manager in developing and improving digital engineering systems and tools from concept through implementation while communicating complex technical results to program management and executive leadership., Support the design, interpretation, and analysis of technical solutions for complex space programs and projects.

  • Lead or support technical programs, projects, and tasks requiring disciplined engineering oversight.
  • Develop, configure, and evaluate system architectures using model-based systems engineering methodologies, modeling languages, and simulation tools.
  • Support the creation, implementation, integration, and improvement of digital engineering systems, methods, and tools.
  • Lead or support system verification, validation, and discipline-specific testing activities within a digital engineering environment.
  • Plan and perform engineering research, design development, systems analysis, and related assignments in accordance with engineering and customer specifications.
  • Evaluate program execution plans and advise the government customer on risks to performance, schedule, cost, and technical objectives.
  • Assess program deliverables against established standards, metrics, requirements, and intended warfighting outcomes.
  • Coordinate with government teams, mission partners, and supporting organizations to align systems engineering activities with delivery milestones.
  • Evaluate design trades and advise stakeholders on associated cost, schedule, performance, and technical impacts.
  • Provide technical leadership for the engineering portions of major projects or programs.
  • Communicate technical information clearly, concisely, and accurately in written and verbal formats.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten years of relevant Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or industry experience.
  • Experience applying digital engineering tools and methods to create, manage, integrate, and optimize systems and products.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing system models using model-based systems engineering tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or Rhapsody.
  • Proficiency with SysML or UML for capturing requirements, architecture, behavior, and design.
  • Experience using modeling and simulation applications.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense acquisition activities, including documentation development, presentation preparation, and programmatic discussions.
  • Understanding of operational environments and associated mission-user needs.
  • Knowledge of space systems engineering, development, and manufacturing.
  • Experience with Department of Defense program management, including program development and transition.
  • Experience integrating varied digital engineering tools and environments.
  • Experience designing and developing system architectures.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering disciplines to architect, design, and implement complex systems.
  • Experience applying configuration management practices to maintain the integrity and security of configuration data.
  • Experience with deficiency tracking and resolution.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, or executing Statements of Work and Performance Work Statements.
  • Engineering degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology-accredited program or a Professional Engineer license.
  • Master of Arts, Master of Science, or Master of Engineering degree.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience providing Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance to a government program office.
  • Experience supporting rapid prototyping and transition to operations.
  • Experience developing architectures, concepts of operations, and use cases using model-based systems engineering methodologies.
  • Experience linking system models to requirements, simulation tools such as MATLAB or Simulink, and test environments.
  • Experience with integrated air, space, and cyberspace capabilities.
  • Experience developing, deploying, or maintaining ground mission-planning architectures and software.
  • Experience supporting Acquisition Category I or II programs.
  • Experience planning and executing test campaigns for space systems.
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Community organizations and mission partners.
  • Experience using online collaboration tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, and Jira., * Active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access and Special Access Program eligibility.
  • Minimum of two years of combined experience working in Special Access Program and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information environments, including at least one year within the past five years.
  • Five years of relevant Department of Defense and/or industry experience in Special Access Program and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information environments is desired.
  • Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence Polygraph.
  • Ability to maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to travel up to 30 percent of the time within the continental United States.

Benefits & conditions

The typical salary range for this position is USD $135,000 - $165,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, retirement plan and other benefits. Deliverable(s)
