Data Engineer

Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a Data Engineer (contract). In this role, you will support enterprise data initiatives and help build scalable data solutions that drive operational efficiency and business insights. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to design, develop, and maintain data integrations that support reporting, analytics, and decision-making across the organization. This role is onsite in Austin, Tx., * Build and maintain data pipelines and integration processes across multiple systems and data sources.

• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain data architecture, integration, and process documentation.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipeline performance and reliability.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Ensure data quality through validation, monitoring, and error-handling processes.
• Resolve data-related issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with analysts, developers, and business users to support reporting and analytics needs.
• Contribute to shared data models, standards, and governance efforts.

• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT development, APIs, and cloud storage technologies.
• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms, data lakes, or data warehouses.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, orchestration, and pipeline optimization.
• Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex data environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools is a plus.
• Experience working with distributed or global teams is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with workflow orchestration and automation tools.
• Familiarity with source control, CI/CD practices, and modern development methodologies.
• Experience supporting data initiatives within large or complex operational environments.
• Understanding of enterprise data architecture and governance best practices.
