Job description
I’m looking for an experienced and consultative Data Modeller to join a growing Data & AI practice. As a Data Modeller, you’ll work closely with clients to understand their business challenges, translate complex requirements into scalable data structures, and design data models that drive analytics, reporting, governance, and AI initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to work across multiple industries, helping organisations unlock the value of their data through modern data platforms and cloud technologies. Its bybrid working (3 days a week from home) so you need to within commuting distance from one of their offices in Edinburgh, London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds. Visa Sponsorship is not available for this role., As a Data Modeller, you will:
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models.
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to define and document data requirements.
- Develop enterprise-wide data models that support operational, analytical and reporting needs.
- Support data architecture and governance initiatives.
- Ensure data models align with business strategy, regulatory requirements and data standards.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Architects, Analysts and Business Intelligence teams.
- Contribute to data migration, transformation and integration projects.
- Promote best practices in data modelling, metadata management and data quality.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members where required.
- Support clients throughout the full project lifecycle, from discovery through to implementation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Modeller within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling techniques.
- Experience designing data models for data warehouses, data lakes and modern cloud data platforms.
- Expertise in dimensional modelling methodologies, including star and snowflake schemas.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Experience with data modelling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, Sparx EA or similar.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management and data quality frameworks.
- Experience working with cloud-based platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or Snowflake.
- Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Databricks and modern lakehouse architectures.
- Knowledge of Data Vault modelling methodologies.
- Experience supporting Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives.
- Exposure to data engineering, ETL/ELT and integration technologies.
- Experience within Financial Services or other highly regulated sectors., * A confident consultant with excellent client-facing skills.
- Collaborative and able to work effectively both independently and within teams.
- Proactive, self-motivated and solutions-focused.
- A strong communicator with excellent presentation skills.
- Creative in their approach to solving complex data challenges.
- Passionate about continuous learning and professional development.
- Comfortable working in dynamic and fast-paced project environments.
