Principal Consultant - ICT & Security (Buildings & Infrastructure)A leading built environment consultancy is looking for a Principal Consultant to join its Buildings & Infrastructure practice, sitting within a small specialist ICT & Security team inside a wider multidisciplinary Cities & Places group. The team works horizontally across water, transport, cities, defence and critical infrastructure. This is a technical role, taking ownership of complex ICT and security design across major infrastructure projects - with scope to grow into mentoring and technical management as the practice expands. What’s in it for you:Take technical ownership of complex, secure infrastructure projects across major UK sectorsWork across a genuinely varied portfolio - defence, critical infrastructure, water, transport, citiesBuild toward a technical leadership track, mentoring and shaping delivery standards in a growing specialist team Responsibilities:Lead technical design and delivery of ICT and security solutions across building and infrastructure projects, feasibility through to handover (RIBA stages)Provide technical oversight for secure communications and building ICT systemsCoordinate and integrate security solutions across complex infrastructure environmentsWork across multidisciplinary teams - architecture, engineering, infrastructureMentor junior team members, maintaining technical quality and delivery standardsPrepare technical reports, specifications and design outputsSupport project work across defence, critical infrastructure, water and transport (rail excluded where possible)Input into proposals and client briefs from a technical standpoint as needed Must Have:Experience with ICT systems for buildings and infrastructure environmentsStrong background in telecommunications, building services or infrastructure engineering designExperience in secure environments (defence or critical infrastructure)Eligible for UK Security Clearance (or current/previous SC)Strong grasp of integrated building ICT and security systemsExperience coordinating multidisciplinary design teamsAble to produce technical documentation - reports, specifications, design outputs Systems knowledge:Data communications and networkingSecure/non-secure communications systemsStructured cabling and telecoms infrastructureCCTV and video surveillanceAccess control and intruder detectionPerimeter and physical security (barriers, fencing, HVM)Datacentre (Not required by advantageous)

Requirements

Also:Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant disciplineProfessional membership (or working towards) desirableGood communication skills for working across technical and multidisciplinary teams
