Software Engineer II

Experteer Overview As a Software Engineer II at Vertafore, you will build high-quality web-based applications within an agile team, delivering new features for a broad customer base. You’ll translate business requirements into forward-thinking technical solutions and contribute to data conversion tools and ETL workflows. You work with cross-functional teammates to ensure performance, quality, and timely delivery, while embracing code reviews and continuous improvement. This role sits at the heart of our distribution-velocity platform, helping insurers transform operations and scale with AI-powered tooling. Compensation / Benefits * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features * Document, architect, and develop technical specifications based on business requirements * Communicate technical concepts and recommend solutions for Vertafore products * Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and related code for data conversion tools * Participate in code reviews and promote continuous improvement * Work with large data sets * Create and maintain artifacts for team and stakeholders * Ensure optimal ETL performance, quality, and bug resolution * Maintain code quality, organization, and automated tests * Experience with REST API-driven applications * Work in small teams with minimal supervision * Define, refine, and enforce software development standards Tasks * Strong understanding of C#/.NET, Python, Java or similar languages * Strong understanding of MS SQL or PostgreSQL * Experience with data processing pipelines, ETL, and data conversion/migration tooling * Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail * Database schema design and normalization knowledge * Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, or IntelliJ * Experience with React and front-end technologies * Proficiency in Git version control * Comfort with Copilot or AI tools to augment code * Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) is a plus * Curiosity about industry tools, trends, and technologies * Excellent communication and teamwork * Experience in an Agile environment * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field * 3+ years of professional experience with enterprise tools in production * 3+ years of experience with MS SQL Server, SSIS, BIML Key requirements * VIP annual monetary bonus * Quarterly Professional Services (PS) and Customer Success (CX) bonus plans * Commission plans tailored to sales roles * Drug-free workplace * Pre-employment drug and background screenings * Hybrid work model (LI-Hybrid)
